An ACT prep tutor can prepare your teen for the ACT standardized testing process. During the tutoring sessions, your son or daughter will be presented with questions that are typically asked on ACT tests. Your teen will also become accustomed to the testing format that an ACT test is noted for.
The ACT Test
The ACT test is an entrance exam that universities use as a means to measure a student's proficiency in general courses of study. English, mathematics, reading comprehension, and scientific reasoning are covered in an ACT test. The testing process requires a student to answer a series of multiple-choice questions. Each portion of the test is timed. A student will typically be furnished with breaks, which may each be given after being tested on one of the topics.

An ACT prep tutor can help your teenager manage their time and maintain their focus while being tested on various topics. At the beginning of the first tutoring session, a tutor may provide your teenager with a sample test booklet. They will discuss the fundamentals of taking the ACT test and explain the importance of studying each topic that will be covered on a standard test. They may assign some classwork, which can be performed under a tutor's guidance.
One topic may be discussed at a time. If your teenager is struggling in one course of study that they are currently learning about in school, a tutor may dedicate more time to the course. There may be quite a bit of learning material that your child will be responsible for reviewing. Your teenager may be advised to review this material independently. During a subsequent tutoring session, the tutor may review the material with your child. This review will determine if your teenager has been able to grasp the information that they reviewed on their own.
The Sample Testing Process
Your child's tutor will determine when your son or daughter is ready to take a practice test. The tutor will advise your teen not to rush through the test, but to pace themselves while they are answering each question. Because the real ACT testing process will not penalize a student for guessing the answer to a question, the tutor may advise your child to fill in an answer for every single question that is printed on a sample test. Once the testing process is complete, the tutor will review your child's answers.
